Training and Technical Assistance

The Adopt SBIRT project is a training and technical assistance component of the Nevada Opioid STR Initiative to address the tremendous opioid crisis by expanding access to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), reduce unmet treatment needs, and reduce opioid overdose-related deaths through the provision of prevention, treatment and recovery services for Opioid Use Disorders (OUDs) in Nevada. SBIRT implementation holds the potential to improve and strengthen Nevada’s healthcare system by assisting primary care centers, ERs, trauma centers, and community health settings to provide opportunities for early intervention with at-risk substance users before more severe consequences occur. The Adopt SBIRT project includes: No-cost in-person and online training, technical assistance to support SBIRT implementation, outreach, and increase opportunities for Nevadan’s to seek help with OUDs.

SBIRT Training is delivered in small or large group settings (seminars, workshops, and courses) and designed to teach key concepts related to SBIRT such as overview presentations and implementation. Trainings provide opportunities for valuable peer-learning and in the long term, open the door to building a community of practice within the organization. Technical Assistance (TA) can be provided by phone, email, videoconferencing or in-person. TA Topics may include: Workflow; reimbursement for SBIRT; staff coaching on motivational interviewing; SBIRT in specific populations: women, adolescents, and older adults; and using technology to support implementation.
